Scheduled Servicing

Scheduled servicing intervals vary from one manufacturer to another.  Now days with modern oils, servicing intervals run from 10,000 km/ 6 months and up.  What’s important to remember is the recommendation is for whichever occurs first.  Even if you only drive to the store and back you still need to have a 6 monthly service (for e.g) especially if you want to keep from voiding your new car warranty.

There are two types of maintenance schedules and which you should follow depends on your driving habits and climatic conditions in your area.  Two schedules and their conditions are described below: **

Severe Driving Conditions (requires shorter servicing intervals)

If you primarily drive your vehicle under one or more of the conditions listed below:

  • Driving in dusty conditions

  • Repeatedly driving short distances

  • Towing a trailer or caravan

  • Extensive idling

  • Driving in extremely adverse weather conditions or in areas where ambient temperatures are either extremely low or extremely high

  • Driving in high humidity or mountainous areas

  • Driving in areas which are high in salt or other corrosive materials

  • Driving on rough and/ or muddy roads or in the desert

  • Driving with frequent use of brakes

  • Frequent driving in water

Normal Driving Conditions

If you primarily operate your vehicle under conditions other than those listed above, follow the ‘Maintenance Under Normal Driving Conditions’ Schedule
