BRAKES
What do I need to know about brakes?
CHOOSING THE RIGHT BRAKE PADS
It is important to follow your mechanic’s advice when replacing brake pads. An entry level brake pad is more likely to create brake noise than a quality brake pad. Likewise, the entry level brake pad is more likely to create excessive brake dust. Both scenarios are usually the cause of dissatisfaction with the customer experience.
ROTORS
Replace or machine?
Machining rotors is considered a low cost option for brake rotors that are not excessively lipped or warped. In most cases, however, machined rotors are more susceptible to warping again due to the reduced thickness of the metal and previous heat damage. Replacing rotors is therefore recommended as a more cost effective measure in the long term.
