Tyre Pressure 101

Why is correct tyre pressure essential?

Maintaining tyre pressure is not always a top priority on people’s to-do lists but there are several good reasons why it should be.

  1. Safer Driving – the combination of under inflation and high speeds can make it harder to stop quickly without skidding.

  2. Saving Money – inflating tyres to their correct pressure can improve fuel economy and maximise the life of tyres and suspension components.

  3. Saving the Environment – better fuel economy equates to lower emissions.

So what is the correct tyre pressure for my vehicle?

All vehicles have a tyre plate that states rim size, tyre size and ideal pressures.  It is typically located on the inside driver’s door or A pillar.  Commercial vehicles will also have information on tyre pressures for front/ rear under load.
